This is kinda hard to watch. From them burning out the interior to the pre war cars getting crushed. Surprised that there were still horse carts being used in 65.

Eh, it was just a normal car back then. It hasn’t been until recently that old cars have become valuable.

True but just burning off all that, I could almost smell it.

It’s kind of neat to see how far we’ve come in streamlining recycling practices. This looks downright sloppy in comparison.

Salvage yards always make me sad, though. Every single one of those cars was brand-new once, and could have lived much longer with a little TLC.

They were still using horse carts in Spain when I lived there in the late 80s, though that was a more agricultural area.

Too true on both counts.

Never heard of this video series before it’s like a slightly modern British Pathe.

This one was kinda neat. Some things just don’t change.

Yeah, it is amazing how primitive things were as recently as the ‘60s, the scrapyards look like something out of the developing world, barely any mechanization.

Really a shame about that Buick, it looked like it was in perfect condition. Granted, then, as now, there’s not many people that get too enthusiastic about a 30 year old big sedan. No doubt there were some collectors that would have wanted it back then, but not enough.

That McLaughlin-Buick is a rare car today, but was just an old heap then and possibly rotten or had other issues. Sad, but that’s how it was. A lot of odd cars from UK and Europe came stateside during that era.

There’s a video out there of a prewar Jag being replaced by a ~1960 model, and the old car is burned.
